Tomas Berdych: "Sinner-Alcaraz is good for tennis"

Tomas Berdych gave a long interview to Tennis Majors in which he also talked about the rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz, starting with modern tennis: "I think the game has changed, definitely. I would say that the game è has become less creative. If you look at the top 10 players, you don’t see much difference between them. That è is my point of view. I am not saying whether it is good or bad. È simply soì, becauseé è definitely a new generation that has basically taken over men’s tennis, and this è their way of playing and competing".

"If you ask me if I would have been able to play or if I would have liked to compare myself as a youngster with them, then I would definitely say yes,‖ added the former tennis player. It would also be a great experience to play against all these guys. These comparisons are always very difficult because they will never happen, so we can only discuss them. There are new players and new styles, we will see how it will go.

"We need a rivalryà it is good for tennis. The biggest one so far è Alcaraz-Sinner, and only that wayì they can become better players. If there was only one Sinner, it would be difficult to keep motivation and anger in the game. So I think it is good. I hope there will beà another one soon, and it will beà a good time for tennis" too.

The Czech è was one of the greatest tennis players to have failed to win a Grand Slam: "I honestly take that as a compliment. Like I said, I’m a very realistic guy, and if you look at the players I competed with, that’s the way it isì. I know I did the best I could. And unfortunately I ended up with zero Slams, but thatì; I am at peace with myself. And that è; the most important thing in the end, really. I take note of that. Could I have done something different? Probably yes; but I don’t know what (laughs). It didn’t è happen. But if I were asked if I could trade one Slam for two or three years in the top ten, I would probably say yes;. But again, è a 'if' and I don&#39t like it, so no, I&#39m okay with that. Itì" is fine like that.
