Mattia Casse’s first career triumph in the Val Gardena downhill race allows Italy to climb to 194 victories in the men’s field, the Fiamme Oro bearer becoming the 34th Italian to win a crystal ball race.
Unreachable at the top of the overall standings remains Alberto Tomba, who came in at 50 successes (35 in slalom and 15 in giant slalom), followed by Gustavo Thoeni with 24 triumphs (11 in giant slalom, 9 in slalom and 4 in combined).
