Conegliano’s en plein: Imoco world champion for the third time
En plein by Conegliano: Imoco world champion for the third time
Imoco Conegliano became world champion for the third time in its history. De Gennaro and her teammates beat Tianjin of China 3 sets to 0 in the final of the World Club Championships played in Hangzhou by the scores of 25-21, 25-15, 25-20. It's the third rainbow title for Conegliano after triumphs in 2019 and 2022.
The European champions, down 14-18 in the first set, were the protagonists of a great comeback and then highlighted their technical superiority by imposing themselves easily in the next two partials.
It's been a triumphant 2024 for Imoco, which won its fifth title after Coppa Italia, Scudetto, Champions League and Italian Supercup.
Applause to all the girls, but among the Panthers, Isabelle Hak with 25 points and the setters Zhu Ting and Gabi stood out especially. Usual great game of libero Monica De Gennaro and setter Joanna Wolosz.
