Women’s SuperG in St. Moritz cancelled
The second scheduled superG race in St. Moritz è has been canceled. After a series of postponements and changes to the start time throughout the morning, the jury made the now inevitable decision to cancel the event. Despite the continuous postponements, weather conditions did not improve: the fog è remained persistent and strong gusts of wind were added.
In the morning, reconnaissance had been brought forward to allow organizers to better prepare the track, but even then the situation appeared critical. The start time of the race è was moved several times by half an hour in half an hour, until the final cancellation.
This super-G was supposed to be the second scheduled in the Swiss resort. On the previous day, victory had gone to Austrian Cornelia Huetter, followed by Swiss Lara Gut-Behrami. Sofia Goggia had finished third, on a positive day for the Italian team, with Elena Curtoni fourth, Federica Brignone fifth and Laura Pirovano sixth.
This cancellation represents the third race cancelled in the current Women’s Alpine Ski World Cup season. Previously, the two scheduled giants in Tremblant, Canada, whose recovery è is still uncertain (it is expected that at most one of the two races may be rescheduled), were skipped. The next event è set for Semmering, where a giant slalom and a slalom will be held on December 28 and 29.
