Inter-Como 2-0

The seventeenth day of Serie A, the last before Christmas, closed Monday evening with a 2-0 win at Como by Inter, which thus kept pace with Atalanta and Napoli in the race for the Scudetto, as well as the title of winter champions.

After an evenly balanced first half, Simone Inzaghi s Nerazzurri unblocked the result with a Calhanoglu corner kick early in the second half deflected into the net with a header by Carlos Augusto, on his second consecutive goal in Serie A, after also coming close to scoring in the Coppa Italia on Thursday against Udinese. Closing the accounts was taken care of with a few seconds ahead of the triple whistle by top scorer Thuram, with a torpedo to the crossbar of the posts.

Beppe Marotta on the sidelines of Inter-Como spoke to Sky, responding to Gerry Cardinale: "I would not have wanted to talk about this topic, but since he asked me I think it is my duty to answer".

"These are misplaced, inappropriate statements that are disrespectful to the prestige and image of our club. I think Cardinale has made a confusion: è it is true that in past years our majority shareholder went through difficult financial and economic times, but è he was immediately joined by Oaktree, alreadyà two years ago".
