Marco Cacciatori has died, Perugia and Carrarese in mourning
Marco Cacciatori è died
Italian soccer è in mourning for the death of Marco Cacciatori, legendary Carrarese player and bomber of the team from the town where he was born with the 65 goals he scored in that jersey during his career.
Cacciatori also made history for Perugia, which ended the season unbeaten with Ilario Castagner on the bench and second in the league behind AC Milan. He scored a historic goal against Inter in October 46 years ago, before moving to Vicenza when his place was taken by Paolo Rossi.
Shortly after the move to Veneto he discovered he had a testicular tumor that forced him to remain stationary for three years; he returned to the field in the 1983-1984 season, still with his Carrarese where he precisely reached the absolute record of goals (65) in the history of the club.
Reggiana, Montevarchi, Pistoiese, Sarzanese and Pietrasanta the other teams whose colors he defended until the age of 35, when he hung up his cleats.
