Matteo Arnaldi and Matteo Berrettini begin the 2025 season at the Brisbane International presented by Evie, ATP 250 on hard court (prize money $766,290) at the Queensland Tennis Centre. rnaldi, world number 37, faces 24-year-old Australian Alexei Popyrin, number 25, in the first round for the fourth time.

The San Remo native won the two hard court challenges in the first round of the 2023 Masters 1000 in Shanghai and in the 2023 Davis Cup final.  Already arrived in late November in Australia, Arnaldi è placed in the quarter of the draw of Novak Djokovic, the No. 1 seed, who is chasing ATP title number 100 in his career, a milestone achieved only by Jimmy Connors and Roger Federer in the Open era.

Berrettini è however, in the quarterfinal of Grigor Dimitrov, the second seed in the Brisbane International. The 28-year-old Roman, No. 34, starts against another Australian, 30-year-old Jordan Thompson, whom he beat in two dated head-to-head confrontations, at a Future in Italy in 2015 and in the second round of the 2019 U.S. Open, where he would become the first Italian in the semifinals in 42 years.

Novak Djokovic returning to the court after two months, will face Australia's Rinky Hijikata, world No. 73. Nick Kyrgios, meanwhile, will challenge Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, a year and a half after his last official match on the major circuit.
