Bormio, first success for Fredrik Moeller
SuperG, results
The super-G in Bormio baptizes the first success of Norwegian Fredrik Moeller, who after fourth places on the Birds of Pray and Sasslong chose the Stelvio to hoist himself ahead of everyone. He had made important promises, the 24-year-old Scandinavian, and he didn’t wait long to keep them: 1’29″22 was the time with which he achieved the first success (and podium) in his career, to precede Austrian Vincent Kriechmayr by 20 hundredths of a second, with Swiss Alexis Monney able to confirm himself on the podium after his surprising victory in Saturday’s downhill, with a delay of 0″24. Switzerland was also able to place many athletes at the top of the rankings today, with Stefan Rogentin, Marco Odermatt and Franjo Von Allmen occupying places close to the podium.
Just outside the top ten, Mattia Casse confirmed himself as the best of the Azzurri and è 11th at 1″04 from Moeller at the end of a good run, marred by a line error in the final. Just beyond, Dominik Paris è 16th at 1″55, followed by the younger Giovanni Franzoni, 17th at 1″58.
Three cup points for Nicolò Molteni, who è 28th (+2″44) while Gregorio Bernardi had to settle for 31st place, with Marco Abbruzzese 37th; out went Max Perathoner. Christof Innerhofer and Benjamin Alliod did not take part in the race due to joint pain.
Marco Odermatt keeps the lead in both the overall and specialty rankings. In the SuperG ranking, the Swiss climbs to 205 points ahead of Møller (200) and Kriechmayr (142) with Mattia Casse fourth with 139. By contrast, Odermatt has 630 points in the overall standings, with Kristoffersen (469) and McGrath (382) still in second and third place; Casse è best of the Italians in tenth with 212.
