Contract termination: Napoli separates immediately from defender

Through an official note, Napoli announced the separation from Mario Rui: "SSC Napoli and Mario Rui Silva Duarte announce that they have mutually agreed to terminate their existing contracts as of December 30, 2024". 

"Napoli thanks Mario Rui for his commitment during his years in the Azzurri shirt, wishing him the best for the continuation of his career" reads the note published by the Neapolitan club.

Napoli had bought Mario Rui from Roma in 2017 for just under 10 million euros. Under Maurizio Sarri è he grew a lot and established himself as one of the most reliable full-backs in Serie A, subsequently he struggled quite a bit before returning to good levels under Luciano Spalletti. 

Overall with Napoli he collected 227 games topped by 3 goals and 26 assists. He boasts one Coppa Italia (2019-2020) and one Scudetto (2022-2023).
