There was great anticipation for Nick Kyrgios’ return to the court, and the Australian certainly did not disappoint expectations. Making his official return to the ATP circuit after more than a year and a half of stop, Nick put on a show as a partner with Novak Djokovic in a three-set victory over the pair consisting of Alexander Erler and Andreas Mies in the first round of the doubles draw at the ATP 250 Brisbane.
The first set è was decided by a surgical break placed by Kyrgios/Djokovic in the 10th game that è earned them the first set (6-4). In the second partial è the service was the master: so it came down to the tie-break, where Erler-Mies prevailed and won it by 7 points to 4.
Deciding the match was thus the final super tie-break: the Australian and the Serb went ahead from the first points, but the Austrian-German pair stayed in touch. On 9-6 came three match points for Kyrgios/Djokovic and the third è the good one, closing the score on 10-8.
Thanks to this success, Kyrgios and Djokovic qualify for the round of 16 where they will find the number one seed in the tournament, the pair formed by Nikola Metkic and Michael Venus. First forò Kyrgios and Djokovic will be engaged in singles with Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard and Rinky Hijikata, respectively.
