Mario Balotelli on the bench: Patrick Vieira unabashedly
Patrick Vieira, Genoa coach, spoke to the microphones of Dazn after the scoreless draw with Lecce: "There’s always the desire to manage the match better, but I am satisfied with the point taken against a team that played a’very good game. We remained solid, united, we took a deserved point: they had possession but without creating much, both teams hit the woodwork. I think the draw is deserved, we showed solidity’".
Then the Grifone coach did not mince words to explain the non-entry of Mario Balotelli, who remained on the bench for the entire match. Despite Vitinha's injury, Vieira preferred to insert Zanoli, leaving Super Mario high and dry.
"Mario è an important player, like Sabelli or Vogliacco who did not enter, and like them others. We play a team game, they are all important: today I made some choices, tomorrow I will make others. The most important things are teams and companies; if we all understand this we will do interesting things like today".
"Vitinha did a great race, showing the spirit we must have. This generosityà from himè was beautiful, but from the whole team: when we play away from home in a difficult field… There are stronger teams that lost points in Lecce. We need all the players to be united on the field, to do a job for the team: today I think Vitinha, Pinamonti and Miretti did it. Tough match, but we showed that we are growing as a team. The important thing was not to lose, and I am happy with the value shown" concluded Vieira insisting on the team concept.
