The French racket is in crisis

.

È something French women’s tennis would gladly have done without, as the sports daily ‘L’Equipe’ points out. For the first time in three years, no transalpine player appears in the Top 50 of the WTA rankings.

The ranking è still dominated by Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka, winner in Brisbane on Sunday, ahead of Poland&#39s Iga Swiatek and American Coco Gauff.

To find the first Frenchwoman in the rankings, one has to go down to 58th position, occupied by Caroline Garcia. Now mentally drained, the player had ended her 2024 season already in mid-September. The Lyon tennis player loses ten positions. Diane Parry è 66th, while Varvara Gracheva is in 69th place. Both are down three positions.
