Jannik Sinner è ready to make his Australian Open debut. A first-time defending champion in a Slam, the Italian will begin his run in this edition in Melbourne Park on Monday at 4 a.m. Italian time on the Rod Laver Arena against Chilean Nicolas Jarry, No. 34 ATP (1-1 record in direct clashes.

Sinner could become this year the first Italian, man or woman, with three Slam singles titles to his credit in his career (always considering only the singles slates). Last year the Italian, world No. 1, won his first career majors.

No one had won the first two Slams in the same season since Argentina’s Guillermo Vilas in 1977. Sinner triumphed in Melbourne and the US Open, beating Daniil Medvedev and Taylor Fritz, respectively.

He also added three Masters 1000s, a feat never again achieved by anyone since 2019, and the Nitto ATP Finals. In Turin è he became the first to win the season-ending tournament title without losing a set since 1986, when Ivan Lendl dominated the scene at Madison Square Garden. He ended his season with eight ATP titles and his second consecutive Davis Cup triumph.
