The words of Orsato

Daniele Orsato spoke to Radio Anch'io Sport on Rai Radio 1 regarding the introduction in Serie A of Var on-call "Italy has always been a pioneer on so many things. We will always be ready, we are already very ready".

"We are available to implement any new reform that can help referees and the soccer world. If Uefa, Fifa and Ifab feel that Italy can try certain experiments, we will be at the forefront,” added the new AIA commissioner for the development of refereeing talent. When AIA President Antonio Zappi asked for my availability, he strongly wanted this project. I will deal with international referees, to give my experience. A few international matches I have directed and I can help the growth of our Massa, Guida and Mariani. I will be in charge of following the young guys, who are on the A and B Series committee and the C Series guys. I will try to bring my experiences. When I came back from the European Championship, I tried to kill the field umpire inside me. I knew how to be a referee, now I have to try to get others to be a referee".

"We will do everything to react to the vocation crisis. President Zappi has a flood of initiatives. We will try to do our best. Zappi strongly wanted me. I had great teachers, from Claudio Pieri to Maurizio Mattei, from Stefano Farina and Stefano Braschi to Pierluigi Collina. They taught me this mentality of work and sacrifice. Today I can give these referees the mentality: commitment, sacrifice, work,” Orsato added. “I always tell the boys that the referee Orsato has improved the man, father and parent Orsato. I don&#39t call it a career, I call it experience. A teacher of mine like Natalino Tagliapietra used to tell me that refereeing è running and whistling".

"Referees,” concluded Orsato, “must have fun. Serie A must be the dream. Then there are various aspects: spirit of sacrifice, making work, study and family coexist. It takes the humility to learn. Surnames do not lead anywhere in the Hague, there is no such thing as favoritism".
