Third semifinal for German at Australian Open

Zverev’s journey continues as he seeks the first Slam of his career (he has lost two finals, one at Roland Garros and one at the US Open). The German è disposed of American Paul in four sets (7-6, 7-6, 2-6, 1-6), winning a pass to the semifinals (third semifinal at the Australian Open).

Zverev, the No. 2 seed, struggled mightily in the first two sets, which were resolved only at the tie-break (the American served, in both sets, to win the partial but was always broken). Blank passage in the third set with Paul taking full advantage of the situation, closing 6-2. The German did well to bounce back in the fourth set, closed with a peremptory 6-1.

Compared to last year (semifinal lost after being up two sets to Medvedev), Zverev seems much more convinced of his own means. The feeling è that he has grown a lot, especially in knowing how to handle the difficult moments of the match.

Zverev, in the post match, reveals the little anecdote: “In Melbourne I like to play matches in the evening session. I tried to ask to play in the evening session, but I è was clearly told no. Però I completely understand the organizers, Djokovic-Alcaraz è definitely the match of the day and probably will be the match of the entire tournament” as well.
