Marcell Jacobs è charged for return to competition

Tomorrow night Marcell Jacobs will return to the track in Boston to start the indoor sprint season. Here are his words in the press conference that was held tonight and in which he was present together with the American Noah Lyles, the one who in Paris è succeeded him on the Olympic throne in the 100 meters.

"I’m not training to train: I’m training to compete. And I have to figure out how it’s going. I need to break the ice. I feel ready. This year I decided to compete in indoor because the season will be long and the main event is in September, the World Championships in Tokyo: so I need competitions now. I like the 60 meters: to do them I have to adjust my technique and improve the first part of the race. I won a World Championships and I am the European record holder with 6”41 so I cannot not like it".

Jacobs è expected in the battery in the 60 meters from 10:12 p.m. Italian time, looking for the final scheduled at 11:54 p.m. Also among the opponents are Trayvon Bromell and Zharnel Hughes. For the blue è it is his return to competition since last September, after 146 days: last time on Sept. 9 in the 100 at the Castles Galà in Bellinzona, Switzerland. "My life è changed after the Tokyo Olympics,” Jacobs continued, “Everyone expects more and more, but we are not robots, we are human. I love the sport, the track è it has always been my 'happy place', my paradise".

The Tokyo Olympic champion also ironized about his own eating habits in the U.S.: "Last year è was tough, becauseé I love burgers and fries, è complicated to stay focused, and eat only at home … but I know what I can afford and what I have to avoid". The Boston leg of the World Indoor Tour Gold will be broadcast live on Sky Sports Arena on Sunday, February 2 from 10 p.m. to midnight.
