Matteo Moschetti, winning flick on Saudi roads

AlUla Tour to Tom Pidcock, last leg to Matteo Moschetti
It closes with a smile for the Italian colors the 2025 edition of the AlUla Tour, a stage race that, as has become tradition, takes place in the very early stages of the cycling season: in fact, Matteo Moschetti won the last stage, and on the finish line of the Camel Cup Track in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, he won at the sprint, closing an edition to remember for his team, the Q36.5.
In fact, the captain of the Helvetic team, Britain’s Tom Pidcock, won the overall standings, with an overall time of 17 hours, 26 minutes and 25 seconds. Behind him were as many as three Norwegians, all from the Uno-X Mobility team: Fredrik Dversnes second at 1'09" Johannes Kulset third at 1'12" and Adne Holter fourth at 1'22".
"It's hard to believe. What a week! – exclaimed Moschetti at the finish line -. Our goal was to protect Tom. In the end, he repaid us for everything we did for him these days. I have to thank him and the whole team. When the UAE launched the sprint I was very close to the barriers, but I managed to pass with good speed and overtake Molano in the last meters. What a sprint! Last year I went through a very difficult time and today I can hardly believe it".
In addition to Moschetti, who won the stage, another Italian was also notable in the AlUla Tour 2025, finishing among the top ten in the overall standings: he was Alessandro Fancellu, class of 2000 from JCL Team Ukyo, who finished in eighth place one minute and thirty-nine seconds behind Pidcock.
