Ipswich Town-Southampton, the probable formations

Saturday, Feb. 1 at 4 p.m., Kieran McKenna’s newly promoted Ipswich Town hosts a Southampton side in free fall. While the hosts struggle to avoid an immediate return to the Championship, the Saints are increasingly in danger of relegation, making the challenge at Portman Road crucial in the race for salvation.

After a win and a draw, Kieran McKenna's Ipswich Town has suffered three heavy defeats in a row against, respectively: Brighton, Manchester City and Liverpool. The Tractor Boys remain second-to-last on 16 points, -1 from safety. Against Southampton, McKenna could confirm the defense seen against the Reds consisting of: Tuanzebe, Greaves, O'Shea and Davis. Absent instead are Chaplin, Szmodics, Ogbene and Burns.

Southampton è in free fall, last in the standings with only 6 points and -11 from the salvation zone. The arrival of Ivan Juric, who took over from the exonerated Russell Martin, has not yet brought the hoped-for turnaround, with the Saints still winless under his leadership. In the salvation challenge against Ipswich Town, Juric will, in addition, have to do without the injured Stewart.

Probable lineups

Ipswich Town (4-2-3-1): Walton; Tuanzebe, O'Shea, Greaves, Davis; Morsy, Phillips; Hutchinson, Enciso, Philogene; Delap. Coach: McKenna.

Southampton (3-4-2-1): Ramsdale; Bree, Bednarek, Harwood-Bellis; Walker-Peters, Ugochukwu, Fernandes, Manning; Gronbaek, Dibling; Onuachu. Coach: Juric.
