Federica Brignone and Sofia Goggia immediately star in the World Championships

Third time for Federica Brignone, fifth for Sofia Goggia and seventh for Nicol Delago in the first time trial ahead of the downhill at the World Championships in Saalbach, Austria: the rainbow event opened with the first official training session that allowed the athletes to get familiar with the Ulli Maier slope that will award world medals on Saturday, February 8.

The first test highlighted a convincing Lara Gut Behrami, author of the best reference with a time of 1’43″92 to precede by five hundredths of a second the U.S. Breezy Johnson and the two azzurre, with Brignone detached by 0″63 and Goggia by 0″79, separated by the German Emma Aicher, fourth at 0″77.

Behind them, sixth time for host Mirjam Puchner, who pays 0″86 from the Swiss, followed by Nicol Delago (+1″07) ready to confirm the good feeling with the Salzburg track that saw her finish on the podium in the 2024 World Cup finals.

Switzerland’s other Priska Ming Nufer (+1″62), Slovenia’s Ilka Stuhec (+1″69) and France’s Laura Gauche (+1″73) then precede Elena Curtoni, 11th at 1″73.
