Champions League: everything easy for Milan in Germany

CEV Champions League: Milan scrambles Schwerin and mortgages quarterfinals
The Champions League play-offs begin in the best possible way for Numia Vero Volley Milan. The Milanese team, in fact, has è imposed itself at home of Schwerin with a peremptory 3-0, putting a serious mortgage on qualification to the quarter-finals.
In the first set, Paola Egonu and her teammates took the lead from the opening bars, forcing the German team to call the first time-out at 10-5. The break does not serve much for the Schwerin girls, as the meneghine increase their lead up to +12, then closing the score on 25-14.
In the second set, the hosts managed to stay point-to-point with their opponents until the closing stages, where a bloody invasion committed by the Germans made the difference, denying them the chance to earn two set points. Milan immediately took advantage of the moment of difficulty and thanks to two super plays by Paola Egonu won a hard-fought second set 25-23.
In the third set, the balance holds until 7-7. At that point, the meneghine placed a partial 7 points to 0 that effectively mortgaged the result. Schwerin, for its part, tried in every way to get back into the match, but Milan è good at managing the wide lead and closing the match on 25-16.
The Lombardy team will be back on court on Saturday, February 8, 2025 for the big league match against Scandicci. In the Champions League, however, the return match è scheduled for Feb. 20 at 8 p.m.
