Former Tammy Abraham and Joao Felix sink Roma, Milan in Coppa Italia semifinal
At the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza, Milan beats Roma 3-1 and flies to the semifinals of the Coppa Italia where it awaits the winner between Lazio and Inter, the’other cross between the Milan and Rome teams.
The first chance è for the Giallorossi: at 8’Dybala strikes lonely header but too central and Maignan blocks. On 16’ almost identical action but Abraham stays in the air so much and hits a header off a cross from Theo Hernandez and scoring the goal of the former (although on loan) brings the Rossoneri ahead by beating Svilar who had repelled a shot from outside by Reijnders.
On 23’ Shomurodov’s right-footed shot that Maignan did not block but fortunately for him the ball went over the crossbar. On 26’ beautiful spiovente by Pulisic, Svilar goes butterfly, Tomori anticipates him with his header but sends high. On 30’ Pisilli’s header hits the crossbar, soon after Maignan deflects a left-footed shot by Dybala into a corner.
In 35’ Angelino for Shomurodov whose shot è rebounded by Tomori. Roma has the chances but Milan scores the goals: Theo Hernandez recovers and gives; to Abraham who pierces Svilar and seals his personal double. At 45’ Dybala’s free kick deflected into the corner by Maignan.
In the second half, at 54’ Dovbyk, who entered in place of Shomurodov, shortened the gap by deflecting into the net a cross from the left by Angelino put on his foot by a deflection from Walker. At 62’ Theo Hernandez’s left-footed free kick barely wide, immediately afterwards Gimenez scored clearly offside and Milan’s 3-1 goal was disallowed.
However, the 3-1 came at 72’ and to seal it è the brand newcomer Joao Felix who, who entered in place of Pulisic, collects a throw from Gimenez, who also took over (for Abraham), who pierces the Roma defense and with a lob incinerates Svilar. A resounding own-goal header by Reijnders threatened to open the game again but was disallowed for previous offside by Dovbyk. At the San Siro it ends 3-1.
