Sofia Goggia takes a pebble off her shoe

Exactly one year after her tibia fracture Sofia Goggia is preparing to compete in the super-G of the World Championships in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, and for the occasion, the Bergamasque star posted on social media a heavy criticism of her federation for the communiqué she published with phrases she says she never uttered. Here is what the 2018 Olympic champion wrote.

"Exactly one year ago at this time I was in Milan, waking up from’anesthesia; a very complicated fracture reduced thanks to an’operation bordering on a miracle.

In the days that followed, I had hated deeply the press release from the Federation where the usual phrases were put in my mouth “I’ll be back” again”.
Phrases that I had not thought of, phrases that I did not even remotely feel were mine, because the only conviction that dwelled in me was that I would never come back.
I thought it was all over.
Months of very heavy rigmarole to recover, a hallucinating amount of work done sì with a lot of mental stamina but without any strength of mind.
I was constantly pervaded by tremendous doubts.
If I had told the Sofia of a year ago that today  I would write these words from Saalbach, on the eve of a World Cup, She would not have believed it.
Instead, today’s Sofia is simply, as I have been doing for the past few months, agreeing with the words of that statement from a year ago.

Thank you to all the people who have been there and helped me. Even you Fans.
I am ready to walk out of the gate tomorrow with joy, eagerness to have fun and immense gratitude. Superg 11:30 a.m., Number 11"
