Davide Di Veroli on the highest step of the podium in Germany

Italian fencing celebrates the success, in the epee tournament held on Friday in Heidenheim, Germany, as part of the World Cup, of Davide Di Veroli: for the Italian fencer è an important victory not only because it was obtained in one of the historical stages of the circuit, but also because it is his first success at the CdM level.

The 23-year-old Roman from the Golden Flames beat, in sequence, the American Liozkyansky 15-4, Hungary's Bakos 12-11, Israel's Cohen 15-13, Switzerland's Fuhrimann 15-9 and Ukraine's Skankevych 15-12, before facing and beating, in a very intense final from the first to the last moment, Hungary's Tibor Andrasfi.

The final act of the epee tournament è in fact ended in the extra minute, when the hit of 14-13 in his own favor è earned the success to Di Veroli, who on the same platform had won his first podium in the CdM six years ago, then building step by step a career of high level passed among other things also by the success at the European Championships 2023.

For Di Veroli è it is the second consecutive podium in this season, after the one two weeks ago in Doha: the first time on the highest step è a success that comes at the end of a day that also saw another Italian athlete, Gianpaolo Buzzacchino, compete at a high level in the same tournament, brilliantly overcoming three rounds and stopping only at the quarters.
