Jannik Sinner: new Wada attack

The president of the World Anti-Doping Agency Witold Banka in an interview with the Polish website Rz è returned to talk about the Jannik Sinner case and explained the rationale for the appeal against the Italian player's acquittal. Banka differentiated Sinner’s case from that of Iga Swiatek, who was hit with a much reduced disqualification.

"These are two completely different cases that cannot be compared. Both the substances (Clostebol and Trimetazidine) and the circumstances are not comparable. We made the decisions after seeking the opinion of outside experts. The procedure by Wada è was the same as in any other disciplinary case".

On the Blue, Banka è clear: "We do not doubt that he did not deliberately take doping substances, but we call attention to the athlete&#39s responsibility for the actions of his associates. A professional sportsman è also responsible for the actions of his staff and this è is the quintessence of anti-doping".

According to Banka, the case of Swiatek è less serious: "A trace of trimetazidine in a drug containing melatonin, as in Swiatek’s case, è is one thing. The steroid contained in the ointment used by Sinner&#39s closest associate è something else entirely. The cases are united only by the fact that we are talking about two of the best tennis players in the world".
