Lucia Bronzetti overcomes Elisabetta Cocciaretto and goes to the semifinals in Cluj-Napoca

It's Lucia Bronzetti who won the all-Italian derby offered by the scoreboard of the WTA tournament in Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The quarterfinal on indoor cement, which saw the Romagnola tennis player opposing Elisabetta Cocciaretto, è in fact ended after two sets with the score of 6-1, 6-4, at the end of one hour and 12 minutes of play.

Recovering from successes in the previous rounds against Simona Halep (in the last match of her career) and Peyton Stearns, Bronzetti immediately took command of operations, immediately going ahead by a break and conceding only one game to her friend-rival, the fourth, before flying to 6-1 and closing the fraction in 28 minutes.

The course of the second set seemed not too different, at least in its initial phase: Bronzetti immediately accelerated and went ahead as far as 5-1, giving the impression that she could close it out without any problems. Instead, from there, comes the reaction of the Ancona native, capable of winning three consecutive games and putting pressure on her compatriot: the comeback stops forò on 4-5, becauseé Bronzetti recovers the energy needed to win the sixth game and, therefore, the match.

Next opponent of the 1998-class athlete will be the Czech Katerina Siniakova, who in her quarterfinal match got the better of the Bulgarian Viktoriya Tomova: 6-3, 7-6(7) the score in favor of the world number 54, who in the previous rounds beat Francesca Jones in the first round and Caroline Dolehide in the second.
