Fencing, CdM: important milestone for Rossella Fiamingo, also celebrates Lucrezia Paulis

It ends with two Azzurre on the lowest step of the podium at the Fencing World Cup stage in Barcelona, as far as the women’s epee tournament is concerned: Rossella Fiamingo and Lucrezia Paulis in fact pushed themselves to the semifinals, giving way respectively to Korea’s Song (15-9) and Hungary’s Muhari (15-7), the latter winning in the final 15-9.
For Rossella Fiamingo, in particular, the one achieved on Saturday è in important goal: it is in fact the tenth podium in the World Cup: "I am overjoyed for this bronze – she said at the conclusion of the tournament -, it gives me great confidence for the work I am doing and makes me feel I am still up to aim high. It's tiring to repeat myself over time but I like this sport, it entertains me and stimulates me to try again to do something great".
Lucrezia Paulis also has no regrets, and è indeed more than satisfied with reaching the semifinals: "I am extraordinarily happy – she said -becauseé I would not have expected to be able to achieve this result twice in a row and I am very happy that I was able to express good fencing even in front of opponents much much much more experienced than me".
Before reaching the semifinals, Fiamingo defeated, in order, Hungary's Dekany 15-9, France's Von Kessernbrock 14-13, China's Shi, who was punished with a black card, and the other Frenchwoman Vanryssel 13-10. Paulis, on the other hand, beat between the first round and the quarters the other Italian Alice Clerici 15-9, Estonian Embrish 10-9, Hong Kong athlete Hsieh 12-10 and the other Estonian Lehis 14-12.
