Brescia beats Trieste and keeps pace with Trent
In the nineteenth day LBA game, Germani Brescia beat Pallacanestro Trieste 93-90 and keeps pace with leading Trento.
Not even time to sit in the stands that Germani pushes over the pedal of’accelerator. Rivers, in the third time to the iron, and Mobio, with a heavy hand from beyond, the’arc seal a 5-0 partial. However, Trieste, an organized and talented team, kept in touch with the hosts thanks to baskets by Brown and Johnson, skilled at taking advantage of their opponents’ defensive inattentions. Bilan, triggered by Della Valle and Ivanovic, shows off his individual technique, putting the Julian pitturato on fire. Brescia, through two Della Valle triples, while suffering on defensive rebounding, attempts a first breakaway, forcing coach Jamion Christian to pause the clock. Upon returning to the parquet, Brooks and Valentine, in the last remnants of the quarter, sign a 0-4 partial that reduces the discrepancy to six lengths.
The second quarter è opened with a 5-0 personal partial by Burnell, bringing the lead back to eleven points. Reyes and the usual Valentine find themselves at odds and repay Brescia in the same coin. Coach Giuseppe Poeta decides to spend a timeout to square the circle. The game lives on tears. In fact, as soon as Germani lays the foundations for a breakaway, here are the alabardati suffocating with cynicism every enemy velleità. Candussi and Valentine, in an instant, allow the red-and-whites to climb back up to within three points. Trieste makes the overtaking with Brown, impeccable from the lunette, but Della Valle and Burnell with their nails regain the trend of the dispute and bring Brescia ahead at the long break.
The resumption of hostilities, at least at the outset, è of Trieste plate. The Giulians, in fact, buoyed by Uthoff and Brown, unleashed the new overtake with grit and determination. Germani, although building excellent offensive solutions, struggles to find the bottom of the bucket, slamming, in the rebounding struggle, against the red and white jerseys. Trieste, for its part, continues to express its flow of offensive play, often punishing the Brescian defense on Uthoff’s backdoor cuts. The hosts, at their most difficult moment, gain energy and phosphorus from the bench, with Dowe sounding the charge, touching the four-point lead. Trieste roared back and, within an amen, still took the lead at the third buzzer.
The last fraction of the game starts in high gear. Indeed, on both ends of the court, a high number of possessions are being played and the rebounding struggles become manly, as, in a contest played on a razor’s edge, every ball carries a capital specific weight. Rivers gives Germani the new lead, Ruzzier, però, until then opaque, answers the white-blue with a frontal bomb and a following three-point play. Brescia still has the strength to react. Captain Della Valle and Ivanovic decide to step up and, through heavy and beautifully crafted baskets, launch Germani into the lead. Trieste, with nails, teeth and talent, keeps breathing down the rivals’ necks, but the hosts, with frost in their blood, close the score.
