Bronzetti mocked by Potapova, title fades in Cluj-Napoca

Lucia Bronzetti’s dream at the WTA 250 in Cluj-Napoca fades in the final. The Romagnola, in fact, è surrendered in three sets to the Russian Anastasia Potapova, number 32 in the world and number one seed in the seeding, who è imposed herself in a comeback in three sets with the final score of 4-6 6-1 6-2 after more than two hours of struggle.
Actually getting off to a better start was Potapova, who in the sixth game scratched the first break of the match at the first useful opportunity (2-4). Bronzetti s reaction, however, è vehemently: the Italian not only recovered the disadvantage (4–4), but strung together a series of four consecutive games, winning the first partial (6-4).
In the second partial, however, è the Russian signed a streak of five consecutive games: from 1-1, Potapova won the last five games of the set (6-1), bringing the match back into perfect balance. In the third and decisive set the bleeding continued for Bronzetti, who immediately went down 0-2. The Rimini player broke free in the third game (1-2) but Potapova won another break in the fifth game (4-1) with which she mortgaged victory and the title.
For Potapova this is her third career title, while Bronzetti collects her third loss out of four finals played. The Romagnola però can console herself: thanks to the points won for reaching the final, she will rise to 56th place in the WTA ranking as of Monday, February 10.
