MLB, Alex Bregman gets 120 million from Boston Red Sox

Leaves Houston after nine seasons
Alex Bregman has found his new home. After nine seasons in a Houston Astros jersey, the 30-year-old third baseman decided to accept a generous offer from the Boston Red Sox, which eventually prevailed in the auction involving many franchises, including Detroit Tigers, Toronto Blue Jays and Chicago Cubs. Last November, he turned down a proposal from the Houston Astros to stay with the club another year.
The Albuquerque native signed a three-year contract at a whopping $120 million total, as reported by The Athletic. Boston manager Alex Cora strongly wanted Bregman, having previously coached him right in Houston.
Alex Bregman (second overall pick in the 2015 MLB Draft, chosen by Houston), who will turn 31 on March 30, finished the season with a .260 batting average, 26 home runs and 75 RBIs in 145 games.
Also watch out for a possible change in field position. The Red Sox already have star Rafael Devers at third base, so iè Alex Bregman’s move to second base is definitely likely. Thanks to his arrival, the Red Sox are aiming for a star-studded season, with ambitions to go all the way and try to win the World Series.
