The path on the concrete in Marseille stops at the quarterfinals.

No semifinal at the ATP 250 tournament in Marseille for Lorenzo Sonego. The Piedmontese player è surrendered in two sets to Ugo Humbert, who was able to beat him in just over an hour and a half of play: 6-4, 6-4 the final. The Frenchman, No. 17 in the ATP rankings, will face Belgian Zizou Bergs in the next round.

The challenge started in the worst way for Sonego, who immediately gave up his serve to Humbert and in vain tried to take it back in the second game: after no less than 16 points and two break points cancelled, the Frenchman took a 2-0 lead. It is precisely this that will prove decisive for the outcome of the set, which proceeds smoothly until the final 6-4.

The second set also threatens to open in the same way, but this time Sonego responds to his opponent and this time è he survives 16 points and two break points taking it to 1-0. It proceeded in balance until 2-2, then Humbert took advantage of the third break point in the fifth game to overcome the Turinese controlling operations until the end of the match.

Sonego had earned the challenge with Humbert without even playing in the previous round. In fact, in the quarters he would have faced Luca Van Assche, who was forced to retire even before the match began due to a flu attack.
