Monaco-Nantes, the probable formations

The fight for a place in the next Champions League and the fight for salvation will intersect late Saturday afternoon at the Stade Louis II in the Fontvieille district, where hosts Monaco will face Nantes for the match valid for the 22nd round of the French Ligue 1.

The Principality team comes to the weekend challenge after narrowly losing the first leg of the Champions League playoff against Benfica, again in front of their own fans. Coach Hutter will be without Magassa and Singo, disqualified for added cautions, as well as Balogun, now absent since early December due to a shoulder injury. A 4-2-3-1 is expected with Biereth as the main offensive reference.

The yellow-greens, on the other hand, come to the Loire fresh from the only defeat they suffered in the league in 2025, against Brest 2-0. Also against the Breton Pirates, interestingly, they suffered the only other knockout of the calendar year, in the French Cup (2-1) as well as the last away defeat so far, last Dec. 15 (4-1). Nantes coach Antoine Koumbouaré will not be able to count only on the three players absent for some time due to injury, Kadewere, Mahamoud and Zeze: the others are all available, likely a 4-3-3 with Abline and Simon supporting, in attack, Mostafa Mohamed.

Probable lineups

Monaco (4-2-3-1): Majecki; Vanderson, Kehrer, Salisu, Mawissa; Zakaria, Musrati; Akliouche, Embolo, Minamino; Biereth. All. Hutter.

Nantes (4-3-3): Anthony Lopes; Amian, Saidou Sow, Castelletto, Cozza; Lepenant, Chirivella, Douglas Augusto; Abilie, Mostafa Mohamed; Moses Simon. All. Koumbouaré.
