Marcell Jacobs, the situation

FIDAL President Stefano Mei shed light on the case that has exploded in recent days in the world of Italian athletics.

"We have learned from the media that a FIDAL member, Giacomo Tortu, is reportedly under investigation by the Milan Public Prosecutor’s Office in alleged espionage activities on Marcell Jacobs. Should it be confirmed that there is an investigation, we would be faced with an episode that will also have to be dealt with by our Federal Prosecutor’s Office, which, as per the regulations, will evaluate the papers as soon as possible according to the timing of the criminal proceedings. However, we are talking about an affair that does not seem to involve Filippo Tortu".

"The fact remains that regardless of everything, today as always in the relay race there goes whoever runs the fastest. Until conviction, the suspects and the accused are innocent, and I really hope that there was no espionage or attempted espionage activity against Marcell, because it would be not only illegitimate, but also ungenerous to a great champion. We are neither worried nor saddened, on the contrary: our technical sector continues to work with serenity, our relay team will be competitive even in 2025, we are preparing another great season".
