Among the various reactions to the agreement between Jannik Sinner and WADA for a three-month disqualification in the clostebol case, Filippo Volandri could not miss. The captain of the Italian national Davis Cup team, at the microphones of "Supertennis", wanted to make all his closeness to the South Tyrolean player be felt, also letting himself go to a harsh attack against the World Anti-Doping Agency.

"At least now we can say that this story è over. It's a real injustice not to see Jannik play for three months, but the only positive aspect è that at least for him this complicated period ends. He played for almost a year with a boulder on his head and showed us how truly broad-shouldered he is and how strong he is mentally" began the captain of the Italian national team.

"There's been no direct responsibility on Sinner&#39s part in this contamination, we&#39re appealing to strict liability for something in the future that WADA has already announced it will not prosecute. Now we can be happy that it is over and that we can have him back at the Internazionali d'Italia. I think WADA had to prove itself and it did it in the worst way

.

Over the course of the three-month stop, Jannik Sinner will miss as many as four Masters 1000s and lose as many as 1,600 points (1,000 in Miami, 400 in Monte Carlo and 200 in Madrid). The South Tyrolean, however, Alexander Zverev and Carlos Alcaraz permitting, could return to the court at the Internazionali d'Italia still as world number one.
