Atalanta-Club Brugge 1-3

A night to forget for the Italians in the Champions League. After Milan’s elimination with Feyenoord, comes also that of Atalanta, which falls by surprise with Club Brugge. After the defeat in the’first leg, Retegui and his teammates lose sharply also at the Gewiss Stadium where it ends 3-1 for the Belgians, who mortgage qualification after only 45'.

After only three minutes, the guests took the lead with Talbi, who slotted Carnesecchi with a precise diagonal from inside the area. Dea responded with Retegui, who found the equalizer on 17’ but his goal was disallowed for offside. Ten minutes later Club Brugge doubled again with Talbi, who scored an easy tap-in after a great rebound by Carnesecchi on Tzolis. In the final, after an’unbelievable triple chance for the hosts, the Belgians even drop the tris with Jutglà who finds the joker with a great left-footed shot from outside.

In the second half Gasperini inserted Lookman who tried to make the partial less bitter, scoring the’1-3 not even a minute after his entrance. The Nigerian striker, however, misses a penalty at 60’. Not è just not evening for Atalanta, which in the final also remains in 10 for the expulsion of Toloi: in the round of 16 there goes Club Brugge.

After the exit of Milan and Atalanta, there remains one last hope among the Italians to reach the Champions League round of 16, represented by Juventus, which, on the strength of its 2-1 first leg win over PSV Eindhoven, will have two out of three results at its disposal in the return match in the Netherlands, set for Wednesday at 9 p.m.
