It's ended in the worst way Jasmine Paolini's adventure at the Dubai WTA 1000. The Italian tennis player, after triumphing in the previous edition, failed to defend her title by exiting in the round of 16 against American Sofia Kenin. In addition to the elimination, the Tuscan player, during the match with the world number 56, suffered an ankle injury that greatly affected her throughout the rest of the match and forced her later to forfeit the doubles match with Sara Errani.
Through a message on her Instagram profile, Jasmine Paolini wanted to provide an update regarding her physical condition and to thank all the fans for their support in her time of difficulty.
"I am so sorry, but I was forced to withdraw from Dubai. It's frustrating, but è the right decision. I don't think it's anything that serious, but I'll get a checkup as soon as possible with the goal of getting back on the court as soon as possible. Thank you for all the support, I appreciate it very much" this is the message from the world number four.
The elimination in the round of 16 will cost Jasmine Paolini dearly in terms of WTA Ranking, as at the end of the tournament, the Italian could lose as many as two positions slipping to sixth place.
