Antonio Faravelli begins 2025 as a sommelier

Antonio Faravelli is noted for a growing commitment not only in sports, but also in the world of art and culture. The vine-grower-golf player from Montù Beccaria, in the Oltrepò Pavese, è was the protagonist during the opening of the exhibition “I mondi di Gigi Pedroli”, hosted in the fascinating spaces of the ’Ex Fornace in Milan, a symbolic place for culture and art in the Navigli district. The’event runs from February 19 to March 4, 2025.
Present at the opening were the president of Municipal District 6, Santo Minniti, and Councillor for Culture, Francesca Chiara De Feo, along with Elisabetta Invernici and Alberto Oliva of Galleria&Friends, the Cultural Association Profumo di Milano and the Pedroli family. On this occasion, Pietro Ichino and Graziana Martin paid tribute to the figure of Gigi Pedroli, a multifaceted artist of Milanese and international fame, who recently passed away.
The exhibition celebrates Pedroli’s artistic journey through a’wide selection of engravings, paintings, sculptures and ceramics, which highlight his technical and expressive versatility. His works evoke poetic and dreamlike atmospheres, offering a unique perspective on reality.
A focal point of the exhibition è the work dedicated to Giacomo Matteotti, created by Pedroli shortly before his death. This work, donated to Milan’s City Hall 6 as part of the project “Le Antiche Botteghe per Giacomo Matteotti” promoted by Galleria&Friends in November 2024, represents a tribute to the values of justice and freedomà keeping historical memory alive.
Gigi Pedroli (1932-2024) è was a complete artist: engraver, painter, sculptor, ceramist, as well as singer-songwriter, musician and performer. His artistic legacy is distinguished by his constant exploration of the human figure and deep connection with Milan and nature. Founder of the Centro dell’Incisione sull'Alzaia Naviglio Grande, Pedroli has fostered artistic dialogue between different generations and has made a significant contribution to the dissemination of the art of engraving.
Through this exhibition, City Hall 6 intends to celebrate not only the extraordinary artist, but also the man who dedicated his life to the Milanese cultural community. The’exhibition represents an’opportunity’to rediscover his works in a context that enhances his passion for art and his connection with the territory.
The vernissage è concluded with a cocktail reception, enriched by poetic interventions and memories shared by the artist’s friends. Vitea Cellars and the historical brand Golf and Wine 1895 curated the tasting, during which Antonio Faravelli è distinguished himself in the role of sommelier, performing in front of a large audience composed of friends and engravers.
