Paola Egonu vs Ekaterina Antropova, act three in Monza

Closing with a bang at the Opiquad Arena in Monza for Numia Vero Volley Milano. On the occasion of the penultimate day of the Regular Season of Serie A1 Tigotà, the Milanese team, fresh from the success against Vallefoglia, will take the court on Wednesday, February 26 at 8:30 p.m. (live coverage by Rai Sport and VBTV) in front of its fans for the high ranking challenge against Savino Del Bene Scandicci. At stake is not only the victory, but also the second place.

Once again, it will be a challenge between the opposites of Numia Vero Volley Milano and Savino Del Bene Scandicci: Paola Egonu and Ekaterina Antropova. The two players will come face to face for the third time this season, after sharing the Olympic gold medal. In the last direct clash, the Frecciarossa Italian Cup semifinal won by Milan 3-2, both finished the match with 30 points on the score sheet, ranking as Top Scorer of the match.

The match will be particularly heartfelt given the presence of numerous former players on both teams. Kara Bajema and Brenda Castillo wore the Milan jersey in the 2023/24 season, while Beatrice Parrocchiale defended the meneghini colors from 2019 to 2023. Also among the familiar faces was coach Marco Gaspari, who led Milan’s women’s first team for four seasons from 2020 to 2024. On the other side of the net, the only two former Scandicci players currently with Milan are Ludovica Guidi, who played in Tuscany in 2022/23, and Elena Pietrini, a star player with Scandicci from 2019 to 2023.

An'additional peculiarity; è is the perfect balance in the number of wins: out of 30 total matches, the two teams have won 15 each. The last confrontation, valid for the semifinals of the Italian A1 Frecciarossa Cup and held on Feb. 8, saw the Milanese take the final after winning on tie-break.
