Kvitfjell Downhill: Sofia Goggia comes close to podium, Federica Brignone stretches ahead of Lara Gut-Behrami

Cornelia Huetter triumphs in Kvitfjell, Sofia Goggia touches podium

Cornelia Huetter wins the first downhill race in Kvitfjell. The Austrian skier, in fact, set the best overall time of 1:31.46, ahead of Germany's Emma Aicher and America's Breezy Johnson, who were 15 and 40 hundredths apart, respectively. Fading by only four hundredths, the podium for Sofia Goggia, who had to settle for fourth place.

She closes in fifth place Federica Brignone, who gains an impressive 23 points in the standings over Lara Gut-Behrami, who did not è go beyond 12th position. There'è another Azzurra in the top 10, namely Laura Pirovano, who hits an excellent sixth place just 4 hundredths behind her compatriot.

Completing the top 10 are: Ilka Stuhec (+0.71), Jacqueline Wiles (+0.84), Ester Ledecka (+0.99) and Kira Weidle-Winkelmann (+1.00).

Moreù back, finally, the other azzurre: seventeenth Nicol Delago (+1.25), nineteenth Nadia Delago (+1.36), twenty-second Elena Curtoni (+1.52), while Marta Bassino è even thirty-second (+2.16). Thirty-ninth Vicky Bernardi (+2.89) and 40th Roberta Melesi (+3.12).

Thanks to her fifth-place finish, Federica Brignone increased her advantage in the overall standings over Lara Gut-Behrami to 213 points. The Valle d’Aosta native, in addition, is also confirmed at the top of the specialty ranking with 334 points, just 24 points ahead of Sofia Goggia.
