Gabriele Gravina named UEFA’s first vice president

Gabriele Gravina has been named UEFA’s first vice president. Today in Belgrade, at UEFA’s 49th Ordinary Congress, the FIGC president was confirmed in the Executive Committee for the next four-year term receiving 48 preferences and being the second most voted member together with Germany’s Hans-Joachim Watzke and after Dutchman Frank Paauw (49 preferences). Immediately afterwards, during the Executive Committee meeting that followed the congress proceedings, Gravina was named UEFA’s first vice president.
“I am happy and proud – the federal president’s comment – this election is an extraordinary recognition of the important contribution made by Italian soccer to the development of the sport we love most. In the last four years, our credibility at the European level has gradually grown thanks to the choices made and the courageous and innovative policies we are pursuing, implementing rules for an increasingly fascinating and economically and financially balanced soccer. The common future of European soccer is being written day by day, and we will continue to support this evolutionary process. On a personal level, this election represents an incredible satisfaction because it is surely the result of the good policy implemented, but also of the excellent level of relations and relationships created at the international level, which have contributed greatly to this incredible result. I thank President Ceferin for his vision and friendship as well as all the delegates from the other federations, who have recognized the FIGC and my person for this great responsibility.”
“Gabriele Gravina – UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin told a press conference – is a great football executive and a great person. I count on him a lot, he is a man who loves soccer and has dedicated his life to football”.
