Max Verstappen approves Lawson-Tsunoda swap
Four-time world champion Max Verstappen on the eve of the three-day Japanese Grand Prix fully endorsed the driver swap between Red Bull and Racing Bulls, with Yuki Tsunona promoted to his side and Liam Lawson demoted. Here are the Dutchman’s words.
“I have discussed the Lawson-Tsunoda swap with the team, so the team knows what I think about everything and I think that’s enough, to be honest. I have known Yuki for a long time because he is part of the Red Bull family. It’s a very natural progression.”
“Everyone always does their best to succeed in Formula 1 and everyone deserves their chances and I think the team has worked very well with him to prepare him in the best way possible to start here”.
“Give him a drink and yeah, it gets really fun. He’s a really great guy. He has been in F1 for a while now, he has accumulated quite a bit’ of experience. He is very passionate and it is very nice to see him”.
“If Yuki can help me? For me, that is not the point, actually. We just have to improve our car and that is where we have to focus. That’s what I also told the team, and that’s also what I’m working on”.
