Carlos Alcaraz misses Jannik Sinner

Carlos Alcaraz is preparing to enter play in the Monte Carlo Masters 1000, and to that end he held a training session with Novak Djokovic. The 21-year-old Murcian confessed that he was destabilized by the forced absence, due to disqualification, of Jannik Sinner. Here are the Spaniard’s paoles.
“Some people thought that, just because Sinner was not playing, Zverev and I should win everything and play better than before. That was not and is not correct. I am not surprised that I did not become No. 1 again.”
“So many people were asking me, to take advantage of this period of Jannik’s absence to get back on top. And this pressure probably killed me somehow. Even if Jannik isn’t playing, I’m too far behind him, and on clay I won’t have a chance to come back up. I can only try to give my best”.
Then Alcaraz makes a joke that is then not so much a joke referring to the disqualification of the world No. 1: “I would also like to have a month off now and then, without doing anything… we play for 11 months non-stop and the’intensity that is required of our physique is always too much”.
