Finally the year 2025 smiles on Flavio Cobolli: after a negative start of the year, the Italian tennis player made up for it with interest in the Bucarest tournament by winning his first career ATP circuit title. The Roman player overcame Argentina’s Sebastian Baez, world number 36, in the final.

And it is precisely at world number 36 that Cobolli will rise from next Monday.

The Italian player re-enters the top 40 in the world rankings and now has his sights set on the Monte Carlo tournament, which kicks off soon.

Cobolli prevailed over Baez with the partials of 6-4, 6-4: “I’ve always dreamed of winning an Atp tournament in my career and this day has come, it’s my best result ever – he confessed after the match -. I was coming from a difficult moment, something has changed in the last weeks. It is not easy to play on clay against Baez, it was very hard, great battle and great victory” are his words after the victory.

The 22-year-old Blue, who was coming from 8 consecutive defeats, handled the whole final well despite the harsh weather, close to zero degrees. He won the first set thanks to a break in the seventh game, while in the second he was in almost total control, getting two breaks in the third and seventh games, before a small final lapse in concentration from which he quickly recovered. It’s the 100th tournament won by Italian tennis players on the ATP circuit.
