Anna Kalinskaya puts Magda Linette in her sights

After the first signs of awakening in Miami, Anna Kalinskaya raised the bar even higher at the Charleston WTA 500 where she gave herself the most beautiful victory of the year, defeating in two sets Madison Keys, world number 5 and fresh winner of the Australian Open.

The Russian tennis player, however, was unable to repeat in the quarterfinals against Sofia Kenin of the United States, who won in two sets. A good result, however, for the Muscovite, thanks to which she gained two positions in the new ranking published by the WTA.

Kalinskaya, in fact, rose to 31st place in the world rankings with 1622 points and now sets her sights on Magda Linette, in 30th place at 1684 points, to return to the world’s top 30 players.

The next scheduled tournament is the WTA 500 in Stuttgart, which will start on April 14.

Last season Kalinskaya was eliminated in the qualifying round by our Sara Errani. At the moment Anna is not yet on the entry list: she may decide to stay longer in Miami and return to the court for the WTA 1000 in Madrid, starting a week later in Spain.
