Fernando Alonso stunned by Max Verstappen: "People don’t realize"

Fernando Alonso, still with zero points in the Formula 1 World Championship, was amazed by Max Verstappen’s performance in Japan. The world champion managed to win for the first time this season, leaving behind the two McLaren fastest cars for the duration of the Grand Prix.

“It&#8217s been impressive, it doesn&#8217t surprise us much now; we know how good he is. He is doing something incredible to keep the championship alive; he is only one point behind Norris”.

“It reminds me of my 2012, with a car that was not that good and we were fighting for the title. People don”t realize how difficult it is to run perfectly in the Grand Prix”.

“I hope he can fight until the end, but they have to improve the car a little bit’ more. He has already won four titles, so he can fight with a slightly less competitive car”.
