Federica Brignone discharged from clinic: "I’m a quitter"

Federica Brignone spoke at’the exit of La Madonnina clinic, where she underwent surgery last April 3 after the serious injury suffered at the Italian Championships. “The main thing is to thank, meanwhile, those who rescued me in Trento, how they took me the carabinieri who did everything, really, and especially the Federation – she began -. I realized only after the surgery how much I risked and what happened. All that Andrea, Gabriele, Dr. Accetta and the Federation did to operate on me right away and to avoid major complications, I thank them wholeheartedly”.
“I was in one of the best moments of my life and this thing happened to me – continued the champion from Aosta Valley -. But I mean, if you are a skier it happens. So tough maybe it’s a bit too much, however, from the other side I received so much affection that I can only be grateful. I thank everyone: you sent me messages, flowers, gifts, sweets… really it was five days when I received so much energy and affection”.
On recovery time: “I don“t know yet how long it will take, we will work very step-by-step. The next step will be to start physical therapy, as early as Monday. Then there will be the follow-up CT scan and from there we will evaluate how the bone healing is going, and then we will plan everything else together with Andrea and Gabriele, always trying to figure out what is the best thing to do”.
“Do you have the will to fight? I don’t lack that. I am not a quitter; it is not in my nature. On the contrary, I think everything that happens in life is a cue, something to learn from, to become a better person and athlete. Even from this ugly situation, I am sure that good and positive things will come out”.
“My first thought now is to live day by day, to try to face everything with serenity, with a smile, just like I did these days. I have already had so many friends come to visit me and so many more to come. I will try to live my life in the most positive and happy way possible” concluded Brignone.
