Lorenzo Musetti dispels taboo Stefanos Tsitsipas and flies to semifinals in Monte Carlo

Lorenzo Musetti hits his first 1000 semifinal of his career. In fact, on the red clay of Monte Carlo, the Italian tennis player won over the Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas with a score of 1-6 6-3 6-4, finding his first success against the Hellenic after as many as five consecutive knockouts.
The first set started immediately uphill for Musetti, who lost his serve as early as the second game. Then, in the fourth game, the Azure managed to defend himself tooth and nail, avoiding a double break. The Carrara native’s partial reaction, however, was not enough, as Tsitsipas placed another three-game run of three consecutive games, putting the first set on ice at 6-1.
The Italian won the second set.
In the second set it was Musetti who put his head first in the fourth game. The reaction of the world number eight, however, is immediate and in the next round comes the’immediate counter-break. From that moment on, however, it was the Italian player who took the lead and with a three-games-to-one run, he won the second set with a score of 6-3.
The Italian player was the first to win the second set.
In the third and decisive game the balance holds until the seventh game, where Musetti takes advantage of a double fault committed by his rival to place the decisive break. On the strength of the lead, the Italian is adept at managing it until the final 6-4, which opens wide the doors to the first career semifinal in a Masters 1000.
Awaiting Lorenzo Musetti in the semifinals will be Australia’s Alex De Minaur, who scrambled Grigor Dimitrov with a double 6-0.
