Carlos Alcaraz makes a revelation about Jannik Sinner’s disqualification

In the end it’s always him. Maybe he takes a while, maybe in between he gets lost, jams, shuts down, and then turns back on. But when it comes to counting the points that really matter, Carlos Alcaraz is there. He is there with his tennis that seems improvised and instead is surgical, he is there with his pauses that seem like distractions but are only breaths. And today, under the clear skies of the Monte-Carlo Country Club, he sent a clear message: he is there.
The Murcian born in 2003 lands for the first time in his career in the final of the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters, beating Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in two sets, 7-6(2) 6-4 the score in two hours and six minutes. It was Carlitos’ first success in the Principality, and as often happens to him, he decided to go all-in: not just any victory, but directly the one worth the final.
Intervening in the press conference, the class of 2003 tennis player, in addition to analyzing his performance in the semifinals, allowed himself to make a confession regarding the effects of Jannik Sinner’s disqualification against him.
“It’s the first clay court tournament of the season, and despite that, I am happy with the level I was able to reach. It was just what I was hoping for at the beginning of the week and now I aim to go even higher” debuted the Murcian.
“I know Alejandro very well, I knew what choices he would have to make. This, on the one hand, can make it easier because I know what to expect, but on the other hand, playing for access to the final of a Masters 1000 against a friend is not easy to handle” continued the world number three.
The world number three.
“Ever since Jannik couldn’t play, so many people were asking me how important it was for me to get back to number one, to win tournaments, and somehow all of that ended up taking lightness out of me. I was thinking too much about that, instead of focusing on my tennis and enjoying the moment every time I entered the court” added the Spanish tennis player.
“Now I am looking forward to the final and both De Minaur and Musetti are playing outstanding tennis. Whatever the opponent will be, it will be a very tough challenge” concluded Carlos Alcaraz.
