Filippo Volandri knows what to expect from Jannik Sinner’s return

The two, together, have won the Davis Cup (not once but twice). They know each other perfectly well. The Italian Davis captain is, like so many others, thrilled to see Jannik Sinner back on the court. In Rome, the world number one will make his long-awaited return.
However, Filippo Volandri is keen to point out some important details: “We must not forget that for an’athlete the adrenaline of competition is irreplaceable, because nothing can reproduce the conditions of the match and Jannik on his return will not play for three months. So even though he has accustomed us to phenomenal runs, let”s not expect serial victories right away: it would not be human” his words to Gazzetta dello Sport.
It is hard to blame him, not least because the world number one will have all eyes on him, thus additional pressure to handle. However, thanks to the warm support of the Rome crowd, he might even regain his old mechanisms sooner than expected.
Filippo Volandri is confident that, at Roland Garros, we will see the best version of Jannik Sinner, the one that allowed him to win three Grand Slam tests and become the world number one: “Certainly the more matches he plays, the closer he will get to his ideal form in Paris” the Italian Davis captain” the Italian captain’s closing remark.
