For Nuria Brancaccio and Camilla Rosatello, two of the Italian representatives involved in the WTA tournament in Rouen, comes a nice rematch in doubles, a few hours after both were eliminated in the first round of singles. In fact, the tennis player from Campania and the Piedmontese player reached the quarterfinals, overcoming Nao Hibino and Maia Lumsden.

In singles, Brancaccio had been defeated by Moyuka Uchijima 3-6, 6-2, 6-1 in an hour and 47 minutes of play, while Rosatello lost to Elena Gabriela Ruse 6-0, 6-4. In doubles, however, the two Italians made their qualities count, taking an immediate lead at the end of the first set and reacting in the super tie-break to a decidedly difficult second fraction.

Brancaccio and Rosatello thus ended the match with scores of 6-3, 2-6, 15-13, cancelling three match-points for their opponents and in turn taking advantage of their fourth ball to win the match. In the next round they await Georgian Oksana Kalashnikova and Belgian Lara Salden, who beat in three sets (3-6, 7-5, 10-5) the Haverlag-Rosolska pair.

The Rouen tournament, a WTA 250-category event, also saw another Italian, Lucia Bronzetti, at the starting ribbons of the singles draw: she, too, was defeated in the first round, succumbing to Frenchwoman Rakotomanga Rajaonah. Unlike the Romagnola, however, Nuria Brancaccio and Camilla Rosatello continue to dream in doubles.
