WTA Stuttgart: Sara Errani out amid regrets after three-hour struggle

Sara Errani exits the first round, amid regrets, from the WTA 500 in Stuttgart. After being repechaged as a lucky loser, the tennis player from Romagna surrendered in three sets to Magdalena Frech, world number 28, who prevailed with a final score of 7-5 4-6 7-6 after more than three hours of play.

After losing a hard-fought first set (5-7), the Italian did not let up, determinedly taking the second set (6-4). In the third and decisive set, however, Errani squandered a chance to serve for the match (6-5) and a 5-2 lead in the tie-break, which the Polish won 7-5.

A day to forget for Italian women’s tennis. At the WTA 250 in Rouen, in fact, Camilla Rosatello and Nuria Brancaccio were also eliminated by Elena-Gabriela Ruse, world number 48, and Moyuka Uchijima, number 60 in the WTA rankings, respectively.

The Piedmontese player from the Italian region of Italy, who was beaten by the Polish player, was eliminated by the Polish player from the WTA 250.

The Piedmontese player was defeated in two sets by the Romanian (0-6 4-6) in the second round of the”Open Capfinances Rouen Metropole’ while the Campania native, repechaged as a lucky loser, had her match against the Japanese (6-3 2-6-1-6) in the first round.
